Renewing a Danish driving licence involves submitting a request to a local municipal office (Borgerservice) once the current licence approaches its expiry. Applicants are typically required to present their current licence, documentation of identity, and, depending on age or medical history, a doctor’s certificate.

Your timing

It is generally recommended to begin the renewal process several months before the current licence expires. This accounts for potential appointment wait times at municipal offices and the processing time required for the new document to be produced and delivered.

The process
