What Duratum does with your document, what it keeps, and how it pays for itself.
Do I need an account?
No. Your documents live in your own browser. If you want reminders by email, you give an email address and we send you a private link back to your list — there is no password to create or remember.
What happens to the document I photograph?
It is sent over an encrypted connection, held in memory only while the printed expiry date is read, and then discarded. It is never written to disk or to storage, and no copy is kept.
Do you read my name or document number?
No. We take only what a renewal list needs: the kind of document, the country that issued it, the printed expiry date, and where relevant the issuer and annual cost. Never a name, number, photograph, address or date of birth.
What if there is no expiry date printed on it?
We tell you so and let you enter the date yourself. We never infer or calculate an expiry date from typical validity periods.
Which countries does Duratum work in?
Tracking works everywhere — every country and every document type. Renewal guidance is researched per country and shown with its sources and the date it was checked; where we can't verify it, we say so rather than invent a procedure.
How do reminders work?
We email you ahead of each expiry, with enough lead time for that particular document. You can also subscribe to a calendar feed so the dates appear in your own calendar.
Does Duratum use cookies?
No. There are no advertising or tracking cookies and no third-party trackers. Your list is kept in your browser's local storage, which is what makes the app work, and our usage counts are anonymous and hold nothing about you.
How does Duratum make money?
When a renewal means buying something — motor insurance, health cover, energy, broadband — we may show one comparison partner and earn a commission if you switch. It costs you nothing and never changes the guidance you're shown.
