Passport renewal in Thailand

Renewing a Thai passport generally involves applying in person at a Passport Division office in Thailand or at a Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate abroad. Applicants typically need to complete an application form and provide required documents, such as their current passport and Thai ID card.

Your timing

It is advisable to begin the passport renewal process well in advance of its expiry date, typically at least 6 months before. This allows ample time to secure an appointment, complete the application, and account for processing times, which can vary depending on the application location and current demand.

Recommended buffer before expiry to allow for appointment scheduling, application processing, and any potential unforeseen delays.

The process
