Your timing

It is generally advisable to initiate the renewal process at least a few weeks before the ID card's expiration date. While immediate renewal might be possible in some cases, allowing extra time accounts for potential waiting times for appointments at district offices, processing duration, and any unforeseen requirements.

This accounts for potential lead time for appointments or travel to a district office, although the actual processing of the card itself is often completed on the same day.

The process
