Renewing a Chinese travel visa (L-visa) or extending a stay involves submitting an application to the local Public Security Bureau (PSB) Exit-Entry Administration office. Applicants must request an extension of their current stay before the existing permit expires.

Your timing

It is standard practice to submit an extension application at least 7 days before the current visa expires. Processing times typically range from 7 to 10 working days, and failure to apply before the expiration date results in unlawful overstaying.

The process
