Renewing a travel visa in Estonia generally involves applying for an extension at the Police and Border Guard Board. Extensions are typically granted only under exceptional circumstances, such as humanitarian reasons, force majeure, or serious personal reasons that prevent departure before the current visa expires.

Your timing

Applicants are advised to initiate the request well before the current visa expires. Because processing can take several business days and requires an in-person appointment, starting at least 14 days in advance is standard practice to avoid overstaying.

The process
