Renewing a Colombian driving license involves updating your medical fitness examination and completing the administrative application through the national transport registry. The process is standardized across the country and is handled through recognized transport offices.

Your timing

It is recommended to begin the renewal process at least 30 days before the current license expires. This allows time to schedule the required medical examination and account for potential processing delays at transport offices.

The process

  1. 1Verify your status in the RUNT database to ensure there are no outstanding traffic fines or sanctions.
  2. 2Schedule and complete a physical, mental, and coordination medical examination at an accredited CRC (Centro de Reconocimiento de Conductores).
  3. 3Pay the renewal fees as determined by the local transport authority (Organismo de Tránsito) where you reside.

  5. 5Submit your identification documents and the medical certificate to receive the updated license.
